Technology Centre

A Specialist Technology programme is taught to Year 7 & 8 students from Manaia View and nine other contributing schools from around the Whangarei district.

The Manaia View Technology Centre provides Technology Education in line with the New Zealand curriculum. At the centre students will cover the following technology strands:
  • Technology Practice
  • Technology Knowledge
  • The Nature of Technology
Some schools will also have opportunities to participate in Media Technology production.

By using the Technology Process, students will develop the following skills to support them with their learning in technology:
  • research
  • planning
  • concept development / working drawings
  • prediction
  • analysis / development of ideas
  • production of a product
  • evaluation
The centre provides a comprehensive programme across a range technological disciplines, aligning topics/projects where possible to individual school needs. This allows students to engage in authentic and meaningful experiences at Technology.

Depending on allocation of staffing at the centre, some years we are able to offer schools with larger numbers of students a Media programme. In 2016 some schools with participate in Media production. Further information about Media can be found at the on the Manaia View School Info Centre tab at the top of the page.
