Greetings to all of our prospective students and whanau

My personal congratulations to you all for taking the first step to being an important part of our school – Manaia View. We are very excited about what has happened since our school opened in 2001 and we are even more excited about what the future holds for the children lucky enough to attend our school.

We believe that the basic building blocks of education are Literacy and Numeracy. These areas are at the core of our school curriculum, and to enhance these further, Technology (including computers) and the Arts receive special attention. Each year we decide on a subject of excellence and this year it is Numeracy. All classes receive extra Specialist Teaching time dedicated to improving numeracy skills. Literacy programmes, outside the classroom, include both special needs and gifted programmes. All Students are encouraged to identify their strengths and develop these further.

The staff and Board of Trustees have made a strong commitment to excellence and also to offering a place where students feel safe. Professional Development for the Staff is a priority as it is through quality teaching that your children get the very best.

We have a very strong values programme in our school. These values are incorporated into our Charter. We are very proud of our values programme and even more so as it is supported wholeheartedly by the Community.

Our year 7/8 Leadership Centre has been specifically built to meet the needs of our budding leaders. They are outfitted with the latest in educational furniture and ICT tools. We have five digital Immersion classes from Year 4 – Year 8. Our Children are connected globally and yet they understand their place in the world.

The school has onsite several outside providers: We benefit from the onsite technology suite which has specialist teachers in Hard and Soft Materials, Food Technology and Media Studies, a free fees kindergarten for children from 3years old, a Special Needs Unit, Kelston Deaf Education Teachers, Blind New Zealand Teachers and recently the addition of Te Puna O Te Ao Marama Trust that delivers Ataarangi Te Reo Classes to the Staff and Community.

There are many great things about our school that we would like to share with you. I look forward to meeting you when you enrol your children and at other times during the school year. I would encourage you to drop in and have a chat, better still spend some time in our classes working with the children.

On behalf of the Staff and Trustees, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our school and I look forward to getting to know you better.
